Yes, we can baptize on behalf of the Roman Catholic Church!

Right on the heels of the Second Vatican Council the Lutheran and the Roman Catholic Church agreed that both churches recognize each others baptisms.  This Lutheran/Roman Catholic agreement on baptism is called “One Baptism for the Forgiveness of Sins” and is dated February of 1966.  The Joint Declaration on Justification that Lutherans signed with the Roman Catholic church back in 1999 affirmed this mutual agreement and understanding of baptism honoring Jesus’ prayer that “we all be one.”
